Cyclical Nature Sepia FINAL

For my final print, I will be choosing one of these images. I chose sepia to bring back a sense of mystery that wasn't there, and to make it seem as if she is journeying into the unknown

  1. sepia was a nice touch. I gravitate to the first image more because the contrast makes it feel more definitive, while the second feels more washed out and immaterial.

  2. I like the top one of the two, the colors aren't as harsh as the second one. I think it would've been interesting to see more from this image as far as concept - this almost could be just a straight photograph; it's not as surreal as I imagined it would end up when i read your statement in the first place.

  3. The top one is my favorite of the two. The colors are stronger and she seems more real. You've done a good job creating a sense of mystery.

  4. I actually like the second image better than the first because of the color contrast. Interesting image!

  5. I think the filters definitely give that sense of mystery along with the use of the fog. I personally like the second image the best. The coloration seems more "fantasy" while the first image looks more like it could be a memory.

  6. I really like the progression of your images from walking into the distance to the blurring with clouds and fog. I think the sepia tone works well because it gives your image a feeling of warmth and mystery (rather than one of eeriness), relevant to your unknown journey theme. I gravitate toward the contrasts and particularly the clarity of the cloud/fog in the top image, probably making that my favorite.

  7. I definitely think the top one is my favorite. Once you get into more of a bright color for sepia, it starts to take away and doesn't have the old-photo, mysterious look like sepia often gives. If you look in old photographs, "sepia" is mostly what you have in the top image and I think you have handled it really well. I also love the clouds and fog covering the gap between the trees because she's walking through it but it's not awkward like it was before. Good job!

  8. I think the top one works best. The way it feels aged gives it more story. I really like your composition and how you combined two environments. It feels as though she is about to start walking on the clouds.

  10. These look absolutely beautiful but if I had to choose I would definitely say the first one. These look really well done and hardly look photoshopped at all.

  11. Hi Danielle, Not much to add to what we talked about in class. I would go with the one on the bottom because it will probably put it closer to the one on top as everything prints darker. Overall great work nice image.

  12. I've really enjoyed watching the process of this piece. It reminds me of a childhood dream or story my grandma told me. It has a lot of character and interesting narrative that can really be interpreted in many directions. For me personally, I like the first one with the cooler sepia tones.
